What do I do when I am locked out of all my accounts?

What do I do when I am locked out of all my accounts? The practical answer is to look for specific, checkable indicators rather than guess. One compromised mailbox can cascade into a total lockout across every account that uses it for recovery. The recovery path runs through the one account that was the weakest link.

Key takeaways

As of 24 October 2026: the service descriptions, prices and turnaround figures on this page are current.

What do the signs usually look like?

These are the indicators we check for. The presence of one is a prompt to look closer, not a diagnosis.

What do you actually do?

We work back to the root account first, using whatever proof of ownership you still hold, then rebuild the recovery chain in a way that does not repeat the failure. Order of operations matters here, and doing it in the wrong order loses accounts.

A written record comes out of it: what was checked, what was found, and what was not found. That last part matters as much as the first two, because it tells you which risks you can stop worrying about.

What can you do right now?

What does this usually cost, and how long does it take?

Expect a fixed fee with a stated band, agreed before work begins, and a delivery date set in advance. Some situations here are time-critical, and where yours is, the way we run the engagement changes with it.

What does this usually cost?

The pricing is fixed, the band is published before you commit, and the delivery date is agreed in advance. Where a situation will not tolerate a scheduled engagement, we change how we deliver rather than pretending the timeline does not matter.

What are the common questions about this problem?

I am locked out of all my accounts. What do I do?
Work back from the root. Start with the email account, because it is the recovery path for nearly everything else, and use the recovery contacts and the backup codes you set up earlier. If you cannot get into the email, look for a second account that can still receive a recovery message, and then move forward from there rather than trying every account at once.
Should I reset everything at once?
No. If the attacker still has access to one account, resetting the others first hands them the recovery codes. Secure the root, check the recovery and forwarding settings on every account, then work outward. This ordering is the difference between a clean recovery and a repeat compromise.
What if the attacker changed my recovery details?
That is a specific attack, and it is recoverable. Most platforms have a support path for exactly this, and it works best with evidence: the original registration details, the last known good password, and a record of what changed and when. Reporting it to cybercrime.gov.in creates a reference number you can cite.
How do I stop it happening again?
Add passkeys or hardware security keys to the root accounts, store recovery codes in a password manager rather than a note, set a separate, non-obvious recovery address, and enable a second factor that is not SMS.
